Later in the afternoon on New Year's Day I layed around by the pool in town. It's a business run by an ex-pat American. The poolside bar makes most of the income. I thought it might be all tourists, yet some Guatemalan mom's with kids and a vacationing family from Guatemala City also enjoyed the pool.
It sure was nice to cool off on a hot afternoon in clean water. I wasn't interested in swimming in the lake after all I'd heard about the pollution and algal blooms, tho I saw lots of locals doing so.
